One Monday, when my mom was in Manila a few weeks back, I treated her and my aunts to lunch in Lugang Cafe in Connecticut Street, Northeast Greenhills. Lugang is the newest kid on the block when it comes to Chinese restaurants in the Greenhills/ San Juan area---a good alternative to the classic Gloria Maris in Greenhills Shopping Center (a verified institution there), as well as the newer Choi Garden along Annapolis.
Not only is Lugang a fairly new Chinese restaurant in the area but it also offers a fresh take on traditional Chinese dishes, mainly because of the food being based on Chinese-Taiwanese cuisine.

The interiors of Lugang are very well-appointed and classy, nothing at all like the usual Chinese restaurants with carpeted floors, the ubiquitous chair and red or white tablecloth settings. Lugang is definitely more modern and hip.
We ordered xiao long bao (P188), which is a must-try in Lugang, roasted pork (P350), sizzling pepper beef (P360)---I really love this, Vietnamese egg rolls (P180)---this one was yummy too, and noodles (P245).
The prices in Lugang are somewhat higher than other Chinese restaurants but I think quality-wise, it's certainly worth it. Definitely a welcome addition to the bustling Chinese cuisine scene in San Juan.
